Custom Baseball and Softball Jerseys: Button-Up vs Pullover, Tackle Twill and 2026 Factory Prices
Published · Reviewed by the RUIJUN production team
Short answer: a custom baseball jersey from RUIJUN costs US$9.30 (adult) or US$8.20 (youth) ex-factory in a full-button, two-button or pullover style, fully sublimated in 200–240 gsm interlock with 2-way stretch; softball jerseys are US$7.90 and softball shorts US$4.50. Names and numbers are included when sublimated; tackle-twill (stitched) numbers and lettering are available for the traditional raised look at a per-piece charge. MOQ is 10 pieces per style, samples 5–10 days, bulk 10–20 days. Here is how to choose between jersey styles, fabrics and decoration methods, and what baseball and softball teams usually order.
Jersey styles
| Style | Description | Who orders it |
|---|---|---|
| Full-button (button-up) | Classic front placket with 6–7 buttons, set-in sleeves, straight hem | Travel ball, adult leagues, teams that want the pro look |
| Two-button | Short placket with two buttons, pulls over the head | Youth leagues, softball, practice |
| Pullover / crew neck | No placket; V-neck or crew, sometimes raglan sleeves | Practice jerseys, fast-pitch softball, budget kits |
| Faux-button (printed placket) | Pullover with a sublimated button placket | Teams that want the button look without the cost |
| Sleeveless / vest | Worn over an undershirt | Hot climates, throwback designs |
All styles are the same price; the difference is in the pattern. Long-sleeve versions are +US$1.40.
Fabric
Baseball jerseys are heavier than soccer or basketball jerseys because they are worn over an undershirt, need to hold a placket and buttons, and take more abrasion from sliding. Our standard is 200–240 gsm polyester interlock with 2-way stretch – smooth for the sharpest sublimation, structured enough for a placket, and stretchy across the shoulders for throwing. Micro-mesh side panels or underarm inserts are a common addition for summer leagues. The full fabric comparison is in our fabric guide.
Decoration: sublimation or tackle twill?
Baseball is the one sport where traditional stitched decoration is still widely requested.
- Full sublimation – team name, numbers, pinstripes, piping, sponsor logos and even a printed “twill” effect are all in the print. Included in the jersey price, unlimited colours, nothing to peel.
- Tackle twill – fabric letters and numbers with a satin stitch border, sewn onto the jersey. Raised, heavy, the look of pro uniforms. Priced per piece by the number of characters and layers (two-colour twill costs more than one-colour).
- Embroidery – for the chest logo or a cap, not for large numbers.
- Heat transfer – for late roster changes.
A popular combination is a sublimated body (pinstripes, piping, sponsor) with tackle-twill front lettering and back numbers. Send us the design and the mockup will show which method is used where; the quote lists twill separately. Method comparison: sublimation vs embroidery vs heat transfer.
Pants, shorts and the rest of the kit
- Baseball pants: full-length, knicker or elastic-bottom, in white, grey or team colours, with belt loops or elastic waist; braid piping down the leg is optional. Quoted per style.
- Softball shorts: US$4.50 adult, with a compression liner optional.
- Caps: sublimated or embroidered, quoted per design.
- Belts, socks, stirrups: available in team colours as accessories.
- Warm-ups: quarter-zips, jackets and hoodies in the same design – see jackets and quarter-zips.
Numbers, names and league rules
Back numbers on baseball jerseys are typically 20 cm (8″) tall, front numbers 10 cm (4″), and team lettering across the chest 8–10 cm. Many US youth organisations specify number size and placement; tell us the league and we follow it. Names are usually arched above the number. Roster handling is described in names and numbers on custom jerseys.
Design considerations specific to baseball
- Pinstripes and piping: sublimated stripes are perfectly straight and free; sewn piping on the placket and sleeves is a pattern option with a small charge.
- Placket colour: a contrast placket is included in sublimation; on tackle-twill jerseys the placket is usually plain.
- Buttons: plastic buttons in white, black or team colour; snaps on request.
- Sleeve length: standard short sleeve reaches mid-bicep; a longer “three-quarter” sleeve is a pattern option.
- Home and away: white or grey home and a coloured alternate are two styles for MOQ purposes, but the design is shared so the mockup covers both.
What a typical order looks like
A travel team of 14 orders 14 full-button home jerseys and 14 alternate pullover jerseys with tackle-twill numbers, plus 14 caps and pants. Ex-factory the jerseys are 28 × US$9.30 = US$260 plus the twill charge, plus pants and caps. Timeline: mockup 24–48 hours, sample 5–10 days (twill jerseys take a day or two longer than sublimation-only), bulk 10–20 days, express 5–8 days. Plan 5–6 weeks for a first order.
Sizing
Baseball jerseys are cut slightly longer and looser than soccer jerseys so they can be tucked in. Sizes follow Asian/EU fit; US teams usually order one letter up. Youth sizes start at about 120 cm height. A size-set sample is strongly recommended for a first order because button-front fit depends on chest and shoulder more than on height; see the size chart guide.
